Meeting Minutes for SWAI, 5 November 2009

Present

Glen, David E, Guido, Tatsuya, Bob L, Dan T, Mikio, Yiannis

Follow-up on Action Items

See Agenda for updates for this meeting on the main SWAI page.

Slicing

The full user space queuing will not be done now as the current approach is making good progress. Queue mapping with SO_PRIORITY is working.

The echo issue back to sockets is mostly resolved. The main RX socket still gets all the outgoing packets, but this is okay for now.

Working out hardware for testing: PCI cards causing some problems.

Testing Framework

Regarding the endian swapping issues that have been under discussion, we clarified the requirement that we don't care where this happens (C/SWIG or in library) just so it's not in tests themselves.

Other Items

Regarding the 10-GE NetFPGA implementation and queuing, according to Adam, queuing is not an explicit requirement right now. He indicated the logic resources should not be a problem. Buffering is an open issue. Need to track if we're interested in this.

Bob L volunteered to review "Match IP in ARP packets" in the reference implementation.

Mikio indicated the ETA for the TOS NOX changes has been pushed to the end of next week (11/13). Do not expect this to block anything.

Bob L suggested we begin work on a roadmap for:

  • The reference implementation
  • Automated testing development and deployment

Guido thought we should put that off until the 1.0 release had been completed.

Action Items

  • Have some slicing test results showing sliced traffic distribution (Yiannis)
  • Define slicing testing within the production deployment (Yiannis to organize)
  • Scope changes to reference implementation for IP in ARP (Bob L)
  • Begin/organize review of test framework (David, Guido)
  • Need a tee shirt design for OpenFlow 1.0 release. (Glen, Guido, David E)
