Enabling research with OpenFlow
OpenFlow on college campuses
Many college campuses, both within the US and around the world, have deployed OpenFlow networks to enable network research and innovation. You can read more about deploying OpenFlow on the deployment page.
OpenFlow research videos
Researchers at Stanford University have used OpenFlow to help explore a number of ideas. A number of short videos have been created to showcase some of the more interesting ideas and to illustrate the type of research that OpenFlow enables.
Using Mininet to emulate OpenFlow networks
Researchers would often like the ability to prototype and develop networking ideas without building a large test network. Mininet enables rapid prototyping of Software-Defined Networks by emulating a large OpenFlow deployment on a single computer.
